[612] That bhikkhu should be admonished (samanubhāsitabbo). And thus, Bhikkhus, should he be admonished: the Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu:
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha hear me. This bhikkhu named so-and-so, being legitimately admonished (sahadhammikaṃ vuccamāno) by the bhikkhus, makes himself one not to be spoken to. He does not relinquish that matter. If it is the right time for the Saṅgha, let the Saṅgha admonish the bhikkhu named so-and-so for the relinquishing of that matter. This is the motion.
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha hear me. This bhikkhu named so-and-so, being legitimately admonished by the bhikkhus, makes himself one not to be spoken to. He does not relinquish that matter. The Saṅgha admonishes the bhikkhu named so-and-so for the relinquishing of that matter. Whichever venerable one approves of the admonishing of the bhikkhu named so-and-so for the relinquishing of that matter, let him be silent; whichever one does not approve, let him speak.
"For the second time also I declare this matter. …
"For the third time also I declare this matter. Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha hear me. This bhikkhu named so-and-so, being legitimately admonished by the bhikkhus, makes himself one not to be spoken to. He does not relinquish that matter. The Saṅgha admonishes the bhikkhu named so-and-so for the relinquishing of that matter. Whichever venerable one approves of the admonishing of the bhikkhu named so-and-so for the relinquishing of that matter, let him be silent; whichever one does not approve, let him speak.
"The bhikkhu named so-and-so has been admonished by the Saṅgha for the relinquishing of that matter. The Saṅgha approves; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold it."
