[628] That bhikkhu should be admonished (samanubhāsanā). And thus, bhikkhus, should he be admonished. The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent and capable bhikkhu:
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu named so-and-so, against whom an act of banishment (pabbājanīyakamma) has been carried out by the Saṅgha, charges the bhikkhus with going by desire, going by hatred, going by delusion, going by fear. He does not relinquish that matter. If it is the right time for the Saṅgha, let the Saṅgha admonish the bhikkhu named so-and-so for the relinquishing of that matter. This is the motion (ñatti).
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu named so-and-so, against whom an act of banishment has been carried out by the Saṅgha, charges the bhikkhus with going by desire, going by hatred, going by delusion, going by fear. He does not relinquish that matter. The Saṅgha admonishes the bhikkhu named so-and-so for the relinquishing of that matter. Whichever venerable one approves of the admonishing of the bhikkhu named so-and-so for the relinquishing of that matter, let him remain silent; whoever does not approve, let him speak.
"For the second time also I state this matter … For the third time also I state this matter. Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me … let him speak.
"The bhikkhu named so-and-so has been admonished by the Saṅgha for the relinquishing of that matter. It is approved by the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold it."
