[326] There are, friends, seven dhammas that have been rightly proclaimed by that Blessed One who knows and sees, the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One (sammāsambuddha). Therein all of us should recite in concert … for the good, for the welfare, for the happiness of gods and humans.
What are the seven? The seven noble treasures (ariyadhanāni): the treasure of faith (saddhā), the treasure of virtue (sīla), the treasure of conscience (hiri), the treasure of prudence (ottappa), the treasure of learning (suta), the treasure of generosity (cāga), the treasure of wisdom (paññā).
