[746] "Friend Sāriputta, just as if two strong men, having seized a weaker man by his several arms, were to scorch and thoroughly roast him over a pit of glowing coals, even so, friend Sāriputta, is the burning in my body beyond measure. Friend Sāriputta, I cannot bear it, I cannot keep going; my severe painful feelings (vedanā) increase and do not decrease; their increase is evident, not their decrease. Friend Sāriputta, I shall take the knife; I do not wish for life."
