[596] At Sāvatthī. "Bhikkhus, there are these four meditators (jhāyī). Which four? Here, bhikkhus, a certain meditator is skilled in attainment (samāpatti) regarding concentration (samādhi) but not skilled in emergence (vuṭṭhāna) from concentration. Here again, bhikkhus, a certain meditator is skilled in emergence from concentration but not skilled in attainment regarding concentration. Here again, bhikkhus, a certain meditator is neither skilled in attainment regarding concentration nor skilled in emergence from concentration. Here again, bhikkhus, a certain meditator is both skilled in attainment regarding concentration and skilled in emergence from concentration. Therein, bhikkhus, the meditator who … and the finest."
