[597] At Sāvatthī. "Bhikkhus, there are these four meditators (jhāyī). What four? Here, bhikkhus, a certain meditator is skilled in attainment (samāpatti) regarding concentration (samādhi) but not skilled in pliancy (kallita) regarding concentration. Here again, bhikkhus, a certain meditator is skilled in pliancy regarding concentration but not skilled in attainment regarding concentration. Here again, bhikkhus, a certain meditator is neither skilled in attainment regarding concentration nor skilled in pliancy regarding concentration. Here again, bhikkhus, a certain meditator is both skilled in attainment regarding concentration and skilled in pliancy regarding concentration. Therein … and the finest."
