[1087] "Bhikkhus, and how does a bhikkhu, developing the five spiritual faculties (pañcindriyāni), making much of the five spiritual faculties, become one who slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the faculty of faith (saddhindriya), which culminates in the removal of lust (rāga), culminates in the removal of hatred, culminates in the removal of delusion … he develops the faculty of wisdom (paññindriya), which culminates in the removal of lust, culminates in the removal of hatred, culminates in the removal of delusion. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, developing the five spiritual faculties, making much of the five spiritual faculties, becomes one who slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna."
