[1101] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu, developing the five powers (bala) and making much of the five powers, become one who slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the power of faith (saddhābala), which is based upon seclusion (viveka), based upon dispassion (virāga), based upon cessation, maturing in relinquishment (vossaggapariṇāmī); he develops the power of energy, the power of mindfulness, the power of concentration (samādhi), and the power of wisdom (paññā), based upon seclusion, based upon dispassion, based upon cessation, maturing in relinquishment. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, developing the five powers and making much of the five powers, slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna."
