[277] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu, developing the Noble Eightfold Path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga), cultivating the Noble Eightfold Path, come to slant toward Nibbāna, slope toward Nibbāna, incline toward Nibbāna? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi) dependent on seclusion (viveka), dependent on dispassion (virāga), dependent on cessation (nirodha), maturing in relinquishment (vossaggapariṇāmī) … he develops right concentration (sammāsamādhi) dependent on seclusion, dependent on dispassion, dependent on cessation, maturing in relinquishment. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, developing the Noble Eightfold Path, cultivating the Noble Eightfold Path, slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna."
