[192] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu, developing the Noble Eightfold Path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga), cultivating the Noble Eightfold Path, become one who slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi), which is based upon seclusion (viveka) … he develops right concentration (samādhi) (sammāsamādhi), which is based upon seclusion, based upon dispassion (virāga), based upon cessation, maturing in relinquishment (vossaggapariṇāmiṃ). It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, developing the Noble Eightfold Path, cultivating the Noble Eightfold Path, slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna."
