[228] And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu, developing the Noble Eightfold Path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga), making much of the Noble Eightfold Path, slant toward Nibbāna, slope toward Nibbāna, incline toward Nibbāna? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi), which merges in the Deathless (amata), has the Deathless as its destination, has the Deathless as its consummation … he develops right concentration (sammāsamādhi), which merges in the Deathless, has the Deathless as its destination, has the Deathless as its consummation. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, developing the Noble Eightfold Path, making much of the Noble Eightfold Path, slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna.
