[230] And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu, developing the noble eightfold path (ariyaṃ aṭṭhaṅgikaṃ maggaṃ), cultivating the noble eightfold path, come to slant toward Nibbāna (nibbāna), slope toward Nibbāna, incline toward Nibbāna? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi), which slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna … he develops right concentration (sammāsamādhi), which slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, developing the noble eightfold path, cultivating the noble eightfold path, slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna.
