Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Mahāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 19 · Section 1388

[1388] Ānanda, on whatever occasion a bhikkhu, dwelling thus mindful, investigates that dhamma with wisdom (paññā), examines it, and enters upon a thorough scrutiny of it — on that occasion the awakening factor (bojjhaṅga) of investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya-sambojjhaṅga) is aroused in the bhikkhu; on that occasion the bhikkhu develops the awakening factor of investigation of dhammas; on that occasion the awakening factor of investigation of dhammas goes to fulfillment by development in the bhikkhu. As he investigates that dhamma with wisdom, examines it, and enters upon a thorough scrutiny of it, unflagging energy (vīriya) is aroused in him.
