[1519] "When this was said, venerable sir, I spoke thus to Godhā the Sakyan: 'Godhā, I know a person who possesses four things to be a stream-enterer (sotāpanna), no longer subject to downfall, fixed in destiny, with awakening as his final goal. Which four? Here, Godhā, a noble disciple possesses confirmed confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha: "Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One." … in the Dhamma … in the Saṅgha … He possesses the virtues dear to the noble ones — unbroken … conducive to concentration (samādhi). Godhā, I know a person who possesses these four things to be a stream-enterer, no longer subject to downfall, fixed in destiny, with awakening as his final goal.'"
