[1616] "Bhikkhus, a noble disciple who possesses four things is a stream-enterer (sotāpanna), no longer subject to the states of deprivation (avinipātadhamma), fixed in destiny (niyata), with full awakening as his destination (sambodhiparāyana). Which four? Here, bhikkhus, a noble disciple possesses confirmed confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha: 'Thus indeed is that Blessed One …' teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One.' In the Dhamma … In the Saṅgha … He possesses the virtues dear to the noble ones (ariyakanta sīla) — unbroken … conducive to concentration (samādhi). Bhikkhus, a noble disciple who possesses these four things is a stream-enterer, no longer subject to the states of deprivation, fixed in destiny, with full awakening as his destination."
