[1491] Bhikkhus, a noble disciple (ariyasāvaka) endowed with four qualities has transcended all peril of bad destinations (sabbaduggatibhaya). Which four? Here, bhikkhus, a noble disciple is endowed with confirmed confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha: "Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One." … in the Dhamma … in the Saṅgha … He is endowed with the virtues dear to the noble ones — unbroken … conducive to concentration (samādhi). Endowed with these four qualities, bhikkhus, a noble disciple has transcended all peril of bad destinations.
