[1614] Bhikkhus, a noble disciple (ariyasāvaka) who possesses four things is called rich, of great wealth, of great possessions, of great fame. Which four? Here, bhikkhus, a noble disciple possesses confirmed confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha: "Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One." … in the Dhamma … in the Saṅgha … He possesses the virtues dear to the noble ones — unbroken … conducive to concentration (samādhi). Bhikkhus, a noble disciple who possesses these four things is called rich, of great wealth, of great possessions, of great fame.
