Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Mahāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 19 · Section 155

[155] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu accomplished in wise attention (yonisomanasikāra) develop the Noble Eightfold Path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga), how does he cultivate the Noble Eightfold Path? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi) based upon seclusion (viveka), based upon dispassion (virāga), based upon cessation (nirodha), maturing in relinquishment (vossagga) … he develops right concentration (samādhi; sammāsamādhi) based upon seclusion, based upon dispassion, based upon cessation, maturing in relinquishment. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu accomplished in wise attention develops the Noble Eightfold Path, cultivates the Noble Eightfold Path."
