[182] And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu accomplished in wise attention (yonisomanasikāra) develop the Noble Eightfold Path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga) and cultivate the Noble Eightfold Path? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi), which has as its culmination the removal of lust (rāga), the removal of hatred, the removal of delusion … he develops right concentration (sammāsamādhi) (samādhi), which has as its culmination the removal of lust, the removal of hatred, the removal of delusion. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu accomplished in wise attention develops the Noble Eightfold Path and cultivates the Noble Eightfold Path.

The good friend, and virtue,
desire, and accomplishment in self,
view, and heedfulness —
wise attention is the seventh.
