[1552] "Householder, you have no such distrust (appasāda) in the Saṅgha as that, possessed of which an uninstructed worldling (puthujjana), with the breakup of the body, after death, is reborn in a state of deprivation, a bad destination, the nether world, hell. And you, householder, have confirmed confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Saṅgha: 'The Saṅgha of the Blessed One's disciples is practicing well … an unsurpassed field of merit for the world.' And as you consider within yourself that confirmed confidence in the Saṅgha, your feelings (vedanā) may subside on the spot."
