Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Mahāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 19 · Section 222

[222] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu, developing the noble eightfold path (magga), cultivating the noble eightfold path, slant toward Nibbāna, slope toward Nibbāna, incline toward Nibbāna? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view, which has the Deathless as its ground, the Deathless as its destination, the Deathless as its final goal … he develops right concentration (samādhi), which has the Deathless as its ground, the Deathless as its destination, the Deathless as its final goal. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu, developing the noble eightfold path, cultivating the noble eightfold path, slants toward Nibbāna, slopes toward Nibbāna, inclines toward Nibbāna."
