[330] "Bhikkhus, for the direct knowledge (abhiññā), for the full understanding (pariññā), for the utter destruction (parikkhaya), and for the abandoning (pahāna) of these three cravings (taṇhā) … this Noble Eightfold Path (ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo) is to be developed. And what is the Noble Eightfold Path? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi), which is dependent on seclusion (viveka), dependent on dispassion (virāga), dependent on cessation (nirodha), maturing in relinquishment (vossagga) … he develops right concentration (sammāsamādhi), which is dependent on seclusion, dependent on dispassion, dependent on cessation, maturing in relinquishment. Bhikkhus, for the direct knowledge, for the full understanding, for the utter destruction, and for the abandoning of these three cravings … this Noble Eightfold Path is to be developed."
