Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Mahāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 19 · Section 527

[527] And what, bhikkhus, is the nutriment (āhāra) for the arising of unarisen doubt (vicikicchā), or for the increase and expansion of doubt that has already arisen? There are, bhikkhus, things that are the basis for doubt: frequently giving careless attention (ayoniso manasikāra) to them—this is the nutriment for the arising of unarisen doubt, or for the increase and expansion of doubt that has already arisen.
