[784] "'One beyond training (asekha), one beyond training,' friend Anuruddha, so it is said. In what way, friend, is one beyond training?" "It is because the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) have been completely developed, friend, that one is beyond training. Which four? Here, friend, a bhikkhu dwells contemplating the body in the body, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. He dwells contemplating feelings (vedanā) in feelings … the mind (citta) in the mind … dhammas in dhammas, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. It is because these four establishments of mindfulness have been completely developed, friend, that one is beyond training."
