[277] One who is fully ordained (upasampanna), having heard it from one who is fully ordained, conveys malicious tale-bearing (pesuñña) to one who is fully ordained, saying: "The one named so-and-so says: 'There are here some caṇḍālas (outcastes), bamboo-workers (veṇā), hunters (nesādā), cartwrights (rathakārā), and refuse-scavengers (pukkusā).' He does not speak of another; he speaks only of you" — there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa) for each utterance.
