[39] When the month has passed, perceiving it as passed: it is to be relinquished, entailing an offense of expiation (nissaggiyaṃ pācittiyaṃ). When the month has passed, in doubt: it is to be relinquished, entailing an offense of expiation. When the month has passed, perceiving it as not passed: it is to be relinquished, entailing an offense of expiation. When it has not been determined (adhiṭṭhita), perceiving it as determined; when it has not been assigned (vikappita), perceiving it as assigned; when it has not been given away, perceiving it as given away; when it has not been lost, perceiving it as lost; when it has not been destroyed, perceiving it as destroyed; when it has not been burnt, perceiving it as burnt; when it has not been plundered, perceiving it as plundered: it is to be relinquished, entailing an offense of expiation.
