[632] "Whoever" (yo pana): whoever, of whatever sort … .
"Bhikkhu": … . This is the bhikkhu intended in this sense.
"Intentionally" (sañcicca): knowing, perceiving, having purposed and resolved upon it, he transgresses.
"Living being" (pāṇa): a living being that is an animal is meant.
"Should deprive of life" (jīvitā voropeyya): he cuts off the life faculty (jīvitindriya), brings it to a halt, destroys its continuity — an offense of pācittiya.
