[636] **"Whoever" (yo pana):** whoever, of whatever sort … . **"Bhikkhu":** … . This is the bhikkhu (bhikkhu) intended in this sense. **"Knows"** means: either he knows for himself, or others inform him. **"Containing living beings":** knowing—i.e., knowing "living beings will die through this use"—he uses it: an offence of expiation (pācittiya).
