[648] **"Having taken hold thus, they dispute" (evampi viggayha vivādayanti)** means: having grasped, having seized, having adhered to (parāmasitvā), and having become fixed upon [it] (abhinivisitvā) thus, they dispute — they make quarrels, they make strife, they make contention, they make disputes, they make wrangling, [saying]: "You do not understand this Dhamma and Discipline … or disentangle yourself, if you are able." Thus too, having taken hold, they dispute.
