[402] **"Whatever":** whoever, of whatever sort … **"Bhikkhunī":** … this is the bhikkhunī intended in this sense.
**"Less than twenty years of age"** means: one who has not attained twenty years.
**"A maiden (kumārībhūtā)"**: a female novice (sāmaṇerī) is what is meant.
**"Should ordain (vuṭṭhāpeyya)"** means: should give the full ordination (upasampadā).
Thinking, "I shall ordain her," if she searches for a group, or a teacher (ācarinī), or a bowl, or a robe, or authorizes a boundary (sīmā), there is an offence of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). With the motion (ñatti), an offence of wrong-doing; with the two proclamations of the act (kammavācā), offences of wrong-doing; at the conclusion of the proclamation of the act, for the preceptor (upajjhāyā) there is an offence of expiation (pācittiya); for the group and for the teacher, an offence of wrong-doing.
