[424] **"Whatever" (yā pana):** whoever, of whatever sort … . **"Bhikkhunī":** … this is the bhikkhunī intended in this sense.
**"Sikkhamānā"** means: one who has trained in the training in the six dhammas for two years.
**"'Noble lady, if you will give me a robe, then in that case I will ordain you (vuṭṭhāpessāmi)'":** meaning, 'in that case I will give you full ordination (upasampādessāmi).'
**"She afterwards, there being no obstacle (anantarāyikinī)":** when no obstacle exists.
**"Should neither ordain her":** should not ordain her herself.
**"Nor make an effort for her ordination":** should not command another.
At the mere laying down of the responsibility, (thinking) 'I will neither ordain her nor make an effort for her ordination,' there is an offense of pācittiya.
