[96] That bhikkhunī should approach several bhikkhunīs, arrange her upper robe (uttarāsaṅga) over one shoulder, pay homage at the feet of the senior bhikkhunīs, squat down on her heels, raise her joined palms, and say thus: "Ladies, this bowl of mine, which has been kept beyond a night, is to be forfeited (nissaggiya). I forfeit it to the ladies."
Having forfeited it, the offense (āpatti) should be confessed. The offense should be acknowledged by an experienced and competent bhikkhunī. The forfeited bowl should be given back: "Ladies, listen to me. This bowl belonging to the bhikkhunī named so-and-so, which was to be forfeited, has been forfeited to the ladies. If it is the proper time for the ladies, may the ladies give this bowl to the bhikkhunī named so-and-so."
