[397] "Declare the Dhamma that I might understand" — as to "Declare the Dhamma": declare, teach, make known, establish, disclose, analyze, make plain, and proclaim the holy life (brahmacariya) that is good in the beginning, good in the middle, good in the end, with its meaning and with its phrasing, entirely complete and pure — that is, the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) … Nibbāna and the practice leading to Nibbāna. Hence, "Declare the Dhamma."
"That I might understand": that I might know, might understand, might discern, might penetrate, might attain, might touch, might realize. Hence, "Declare the Dhamma that I might understand."
