[228] "Nārada" was my name; as "Kassapa" they knew me.
I saw the foremost of ascetics, Vipassī, honored by devas —
the Buddha, bearer of the minor marks (anubyañjana), the recipient of oblations (āhuti);
holding up a vakula flower, I presented it to the Buddha.
In the ninety-first eon (kappa) from now, when I presented that flower,
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of worship of the Buddha (buddhapūjā).
In the seventy-fourth eon from now there was a khattiya named Romasa,
adorned with garlands he had donned, furnished with equipage, troops, and mounts.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Vakulapupphiya spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Vakulapupphiya is concluded.
