[300] In the Himavant mountains
I was then a hunter;
I saw the Buddha Vipassī,
the Eldest of the world, the Bull of men.
Having attended upon the Fully Awakened One,
I rendered service to him,
and I went for refuge
to the Lord of the two-footed (dipadinda), the Steadfast One (tādī).
In the ninety-first aeon (kappa) from now
was the refuge to which I went;
I know of no bad destination (duggati):
this is the fruit of the refuge.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Saraṇagamaniya the Elder spoke these verses.
