[56] The Blessed One named Sataraṃsī, self-become (sayambhū), unvanquished,
a Fully Awakened One (sambuddha) desiring seclusion, set out for his alms-resort (gocara).
Fruit in hand, seeing him, I approached the Bull of Men (narāsabha);
with a mind (citta) full of confidence, glad at heart, I gave him an avaṭa fruit.
It was in the ninety-fourth aeon (kappa) from now that I then gave that fruit;
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the gift of fruit.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away, all existences (bhava) utterly uprooted;
like an elephant that has sundered its bonds, I dwell without taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha!
The three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Avaṭaphaliya Thera speak these verses.
