I gave a palm-leaf fan (tālavaṇṭa), covered over with jasmine (sumana) flowers,
to the Blessed One Siddhattha; I bear great fame.
In the ninety-fourth aeon (kappa) from this one I gave that palm-leaf fan;
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of the palm-leaf fan.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned up; all existences (bhava) have been rooted out;
like an elephant that has burst its bonds, I dwell without taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been done.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) too,
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Sumanatālavaṇṭiya speak these verses.
