"The Blessed One named Sataraṃsī, the Self-Arisen One (sayambhū), the Unconquered,
having emerged from seclusion (viveka), set out for his alms-resort (gocara).
Holding a fruit in my hand, I saw him and approached the Bull of Men (narāsabha);
with a mind (citta) full of confidence, glad at heart, I gave him a palmyra fruit.
It was ninety-four aeons from now that I then gave that fruit;
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of the gift of fruit.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away; all existences (bhava) have been rooted out;
like an elephant that has sundered its bonds, I dwell free from taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled."
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Tālaphaliya speak these verses.
