[94] The Blessed One, thousand-rayed, the Self-Existent One (sayambhū), unconquered,
having emerged from seclusion, went out in search of alms (gocara).
With fruit in hand, I saw him and approached the Bull of Men (narāsabha);
with a confident mind (citta), glad at heart, I gave an avaṭa fruit.
In the ninety-fourth aeon from now, when I gave that fruit then —
I know of no bad destination: this is the fruit of the gift of fruit.
My defilements have been burned away; all existences have been extirpated;
like an elephant that has burst its bonds, I dwell free from taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Avaṭaphaliya the Elder spoke these verses.
