[97] At that time the Sambuddha named Ajina ¹ dwelt in the Himavant,
endowed with conduct (caraṇa) — a sage skilled in concentration (samādhi).

Taking in my cupped hands (añjali) ¹ a jīvajīvaka [fruit] as large as a pot,
and taking a leaf-umbrella, I gave it to the Teacher.
In the ninety-fourth aeon (kappa) from the present, since I gave that fruit then,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the gift of fruit.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away, all existences (bhava) have been extirpated;
like an elephant that has sundered its bonds, I dwell without taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha:
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā) and these eight liberations (vimokkha) too,
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
Thus indeed the Venerable Ajjelaphaladāyaka Thera spoke these verses.
