[178] Which phenomena (dhammā) are wholesome (kusala)?
On the occasion when he develops the path for rebirth in the form sphere (rūpūpapatti) — not percipient of form internally, he sees forms externally, limited, and having mastered them [he is percipient]: 'I know, I see' — and, quite secluded from sensual pleasures, … he attains and dwells in the first jhāna: on that occasion there is contact (phassa), … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa), … These phenomena are wholesome.
