[220] What on that occasion is right livelihood (sammā-ājīva)?
That which on that occasion is the desisting (ārati), abstinence (virati), refraining (paṭivirati), abstention (veramaṇī) from wrong livelihood (micchā-ājīva); the non-doing (akiriyā), the non-committing (akaraṇa), the non-transgression (anajjhāpatti), the not overstepping of the limit (velā-anatikkama), the destruction of the causeway (setughāta) with regard to it; right livelihood that is a factor of the path (maggaṅga), included in the path (maggapariyāpanna) — this on that occasion is right livelihood.
