[221] Which, on that occasion, is right effort (sammāvāyāma)?
That which on that occasion is the mental arousing of energy (viriyārambha), striving, exertion, endeavor, effort, zeal, perseverance, vigor, steadfastness, unfaltering exertion, not relinquishing desire (chanda), not relinquishing the task (dhura), the firm upholding of the task, energy (viriya), the faculty of energy, the power of energy, right effort, the energy factor of awakening (bojjhaṅga), a path factor (maggaṅga), included in the path — this, on that occasion, is right effort.
