Cittuppādakaṇḍa

[37] What on that occasion is right effort (sammāvāyāma)? That which on that occasion is the mental (cetasika) arousing of energy (viriyārambha), striving (nikkama), endeavor (parakkama), exertion (uyyāma), effort (vāyāma), zeal (ussāha), endurance (ussoḷhī), vigor (thāma), steadfastness (dhiti), the state of unslackened endeavor (asithila-parakkamatā), the state of not relinquishing desire (anikkhitta-chandatā), the state of not laying down the task (anikkhitta-dhuratā), the firm upholding of the task (dhura-sampaggāha), energy (viriya), the faculty of energy (viriyindriya), the power of energy (viriyabala), right effort — this on that occasion is right effort.
