[293] What, on that occasion, is wrong effort (micchāvāyāma)?
That which on that occasion is the mental arousing of energy (vīriyārambha), striving forth, onward striving, endeavor, effort, exertion, endurance, vigor, steadfastness, the state of unslackened onward striving, the state of not relinquishing zeal (chanda), the state of not relinquishing the task (dhura), the firm grasp of the task, energy (vīriya), the faculty of energy (vīriyindriya), the power of energy (vīriyabala), wrong effort — this, on that occasion, is wrong effort.
