[585] Therein, what is right livelihood (sammā-ājīva)? That which is the shunning (ārati), the abstinence (virati), the refraining (paṭivirati), the abstention (veramaṇī) from wrong livelihood (micchā-ājīva); the not committing, the not doing, the non-transgression, the not overstepping of the limit, the demolition of the causeway (setughāta); right livelihood that is a path factor, included in the path — this is called right livelihood.
