[295] What, on that occasion, is the power of energy (viriyabala)?
That which on that occasion is the mental arousing of energy (viriyārambha), striving, endeavor, exertion, effort, zeal, perseverance, vigor, steadfastness, the state of unrelaxed striving, the state of not relinquishing desire (chanda), the state of not laying down the task (dhura), the firm taking up of the task, energy, the faculty of energy (viriyindriya), the power of energy, wrong effort (micchāvāyāma) — this, on that occasion, is the power of energy.
