[450] Which phenomena (dhammā) are indeterminate (abyākata)? On the occasion when one develops the supramundane (lokuttara) jhāna — leading out (niyyānika), conducing to dispersal (apacayagāmī) — for the abandoning of wrong views (diṭṭhigata), for the attainment of the first stage (bhūmi): quite secluded from sensual pleasures (kāma) … one enters and dwells in the first jhāna, of painful progress and quick direct knowledge (dukkhāpaṭipadaṃ khippābhiññaṃ), with dominance of zeal (chandādhipateyyaṃ) … of pleasant progress and sluggish direct knowledge (sukhāpaṭipadaṃ dandhābhiññaṃ), with dominance of zeal … of pleasant progress and quick direct knowledge (sukhāpaṭipadaṃ khippābhiññaṃ), with dominance of zeal … the second jhāna … the third jhāna … the fourth jhāna … the first jhāna … one enters and dwells in the fifth jhāna, of pleasant progress and quick direct knowledge, with dominance of zeal — this is wholesome (kusala) … of pleasant progress and quick direct knowledge, empty (suññataṃ), with dominance of zeal — this is the result (vipāka) … of pleasant progress and quick direct knowledge, with dominance of zeal — this is wholesome … of pleasant progress and quick direct knowledge, signless (animittaṃ), with dominance of zeal — this is the result … of pleasant progress and quick direct knowledge, with dominance of zeal — this is wholesome … of pleasant progress and quick direct knowledge, desireless (appaṇihitaṃ), with dominance of zeal — this is the result: on that occasion there is contact (phassa) … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa) … These phenomena are indeterminate.
