[724] Therein, which is the fetter of doubt (vicikicchāsaññojana)?
One is uncertain and doubts about the Teacher; is uncertain and doubts about the Dhamma; is uncertain and doubts about the Saṅgha; is uncertain and doubts about the training (sikkhā); is uncertain and doubts about the past; is uncertain and doubts about the future; is uncertain and doubts about both the past and the future; is uncertain and doubts about phenomena (dhammā) dependently arisen through specific conditionality (idappaccayatā). Any such uncertainty, being uncertain, the state of being uncertain, perplexity, doubt, being of two minds, a forked path, hesitancy, inconclusive grasping, wavering, vacillation, failure to fathom, rigidity of mind (citta), mental scarification — this is called the fetter of doubt.
