[746] Which phenomena (dhammā) are dissociated from ties (gantha) yet subject to ties (ganthaniya)?
Those phenomena which are dissociated from those phenomena [i.e., the ties]: phenomena accompanied by taints (sāsava) — wholesome, unwholesome, and indeterminate — belonging to the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the form sphere (rūpāvacara), or the formless sphere (arūpāvacara); the form aggregate (rūpakkhandha) … the consciousness aggregate (viññāṇakkhandha) — these phenomena are dissociated from ties yet subject to ties.
Which phenomena are dissociated from ties and not subject to ties?
The paths (magga) that are unincluded (apariyāpanna), the fruits of the paths, and the unconditioned element (asaṅkhatā dhātu) — these phenomena are dissociated from ties and not subject to ties.
